Arizona Cardinals Photo Booth | State Farm Stadium

We have put booths in bars, museums, coffee shops, food halls, hotel lobbies and a Swiss watch boutique. This is our first professional stadium.

The Arizona Cardinals now has two permanent Majestic booth through our Venue Placement Program at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, and it is the largest building we have ever installed into by a distance. You can find them in section 125 and 425.

The building changes the brief

State Farm Stadium seats 63,400, expandable past 73,000. It runs to 1.7 million square feet. It has a retractable roof of translucent fabric and a natural grass field that rolls out of the building on 546 steel wheels in about seventy minutes.

Those are fun numbers. This is the one that actually mattered to us:

Around 120 events a year, and roughly 1.2 million people through the doors.

That is not a football stadium that wakes up ten Sundays a season. It is a building in near constant use, hosting a completely different crowd every few days. Cardinals home games, the Fiesta Bowl, Super Bowl LVII, the 2024 Final Four, concerts, and a steady calendar of corporate and private events in the club and floor spaces.

What we built

The booth is our Classic booth in a configuration built entirely around Cardinal red.

The curtain is a true bright red rather than the deep burgundy velvet we usually reach for. That was deliberate. Burgundy is the elegant choice and it would have been wrong here, because it reads as maroon under stadium lighting and maroon is a different team. The floor plate carries the same red in a checkerboard with cream, with MAJESTIC set into it underfoot.

State Farm Stadium's interior architecture is black steel columns, charcoal block walls and grey polished concrete, so a black frame lets the booth sit into the building rather than on top of it, while the warm oak keeps it from reading as another piece of stadium infrastructure.

The custom panels are as plain as we make them. PHOTOBOOTH across the lit marquee in red on cream, PHOTOS running vertically down the side, and underneath it the only instruction anyone needs: 3 POSES, 2 PRINTS.

Inside, the welcome screen is Cardinals red and the team logo is the first thing you see. The booth is theirs, permanently, on every day of the year regardless of who is playing or what is on. From a fan's side it is the Cardinals photo booth, which is exactly right.

The halftime problem

Here is the genuinely new engineering question a stadium asks, and it is one none of our other installs have posed.

In a bar, demand spreads across a night. At a festival, it spreads across a day. In a stadium it arrives in three violent spikes: the pre-game window, halftime, and the walk out. Halftime is about thirteen minutes long and effectively the entire building stands up at once.

You cannot solve that with capacity. There is no number of booths that absorbs sixty thousand people in thirteen minutes, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling hardware. What you can do is make sure the booth is genuinely ready every single time a spike hits: media loaded, printer clear, payment live, nothing jammed from the last rush.

That reframes what matters at stadium scale. It is not throughput. It is readiness and uptime. A booth that works perfectly and is out of paper at halftime has failed on the only occasion that counted all week. We have written separately about how many booths an event needs and about big crowd installations, and a stadium is the extreme edge of both. The photo strip is the new ticket stub

This is the part we did not fully anticipate and now think is the strongest argument for a booth in a venue like this.

Stadiums quietly killed the ticket stub. Everything is a barcode on a phone now. You go to a game with your dad, or your kid, or six friends, and at the end of it you have a camera roll and a parking receipt. The physical object that used to end up in a shoebox does not exist any more.

A photo strip is the replacement, and it is arguably better. It has both of you in it. It is dated by the fact you are wearing the jersey. Two prints per session means one person keeps it and one person takes it home, which is how two people end up with the same afternoon in their wallet.

That is the thing a phone photo does not do, and it is why we build booths that print rather than booths that email.

Unattended, in the hardest room we have worked in

Nobody is staffing this booth on a Sunday. It has to work on its own in front of sixty thousand people, some of whom have been drinking, all of whom are in a hurry.

So the fittings are the story. Tap to pay, because nobody at a modern stadium is carrying cash and the concessions are cashless anyway. A help QR code mounted at eye level, because the failure mode for an unattended booth is not a broken machine, it is somebody unsure whether they pressed the right thing who decides it is broken and walks off. Leveling feet, a locking cabinet, and a build specified to be leaned on.

This is what a permanent installation has to be when the room is this size. Our booth at Legacy Hall in Dallas taught us a lot about high footfall food halls, and this is that lesson at ten times the scale.
